Your Guide to Measure Yourself for a Perfect Fit
Since we are an online tailoring brand, we need you to send us your accurate measurements so that we can craft the best possible fit for your body. The more accurate these details are, the better the garment will fit and fall, making it uniquely yours.
This is a detailed how-to guide to measure yourself in the correct way without much trouble. Once we have the details saved in your profile, you won’t have to do this again unless you lose or put on weight in certain areas.
This will take around 10 minutes of your time from the comfort of your home and might even turn out to be a fun activity. You will need a measuring tape, and a friend or family to help take these measurements for you.
It is ideal to do this while wearing thin, body hugging clothes like a fitted tank top and tights/shorts, or nothing but your underwear! Wearing hoodies and loose sweatpants for example will give imprecise details since they have their own thickness and that would add to your measurement.

THE MEASURING TAPE
There are a number of tools that can measure length, and different kinds of measuring tapes. You need one that is flexible and that can wrap around to measure circumferences easily. It is called a cloth measuring tape. It can measure in both inches and centimeters. The ideal unit for us would be inches.
These tapes are prone to stretching over time, so make sure you have a new one, and that you don’t stretch or use force with it too much. You will be using the inches side of the tape for this, and it is not visible, but you always start measuring with the metal clip that is technically the zero. You do not start from 1- if you do, you have to reduce 1 from the total measurement. For example, if you started from 1 and your total length turns out to be 29, then you have to write it down as 28 inches.
1-Height
To measure your height, remove your shoes or slippers and find a clear wall. With your back against it, move as close to the wall as you can. Stand with your back, head, and arms straight. Relax your shoulders and do not bend your knees. Stand with your legs just slightly apart, in their natural straight state. Your friend can now take a pencil and mark the top of your head on the wall. To avoid marking your wall, you can white tack a sheet of paper to the wall to draw on.
We did mention earlier that the ideal unit for body measurements is in inches, but when it comes to height, the usual unit we refer to is either centimeters or feet. Since calculating feet from inches would be a tedious task, in this particular circumstance, you can measure your height in centimeters.
2-Chest
Men
To measure the chest circumference, stand straight and wrap the measuring tape around the highest part of your chest, right where you armpits are and make sure the tape is arranged in a straight line.
Please note that the bust measurement is not the same as your bra size. To measure the bust circumference, stand straight, open your arms slightly and wrap the measuring tape around the roundest part of your bust. From the back, you need to make sure that it is in a straight line with the front and that it is not curving up or down. Do not tighten around the bust too much, wrap it around comfortably in a way where you not feel any kind of thug or pressure at all.
Women
Please note that the bust measurement is not the same as your bra size. To measure the bust circumference, stand straight, open your arms slightly and wrap the measuring tape around the roundest part of your bust. From the back, you need to make sure that it is in a straight line with the front and that it is not curving up or down.
Do not tighten around the bust too much, wrap it around comfortably in a way where you not feel any kind of thug or pressure at all.
3-Bust Height
(Women Only)
This body detail will help us get a perfect top or dress fit for you where the style is fitted, to ensure the perfect positioning of darts or items that have bra pad inserts.
Stand straight (do not droop your shoulders), measure the length from the highest point of your shoulder - the nape of your neck from the front, down till the roundest part of your bust (from where you measured the bust circumference).

4- Waist Circumference (Men)
Contrary to common belief, the waist size listed on your lower garments isn’t your true waist measurement. To determine your actual size, wrap a measuring tape around the part of your waist where you typically wear your trousers. Ensure the tape stays level all the way around and lies flat, without any twists or tilts.
5- Waist Circumference (Women)
Women’s Dresses
You measure the waist circumference for dresses at the navel. Stand with your back straight and breathe naturally - dont hold your breath or push out your waist. Wrap the tape around your waist where your navel is.
Women’s Bottoms
To measure the waist circumference for a bottom, you need to wrap the measuring tape around your waist where you usually wear your trousers (or even skirts in case of women). Make sure it is in a straight line around your waist and it’s not twisting or tilting anywhere.
6-Waist Height
For fitted dresses that are meant to flaunt your figure, we need your waist height. You stand with your back and shoulder straight, and measure from the highest point of your shoulder to the waist (the same point you measured the circumference) in a straight line but going over your bust.
Measuring over the bust is the standard way to measure any length you want - whether it is jacket length, or dress length. Make sure you dont tilt the measuring tape and that it is in a straight line to the point you want to measure.
7-Hip
For bottoms and women’s dresses, we need a hip circumference. To measure that, you need to stand straight with your legs not too wide apart. You then find the roundest part of your hip and wrap the measuring tape around it in a straight line.
For women’s dresses, you’ll need to measure the hip length as well, ie. from the highest shoulder point to the hip level from where you measured the circumference.
In case of suits and jackets, we will need your top hip measurement that is usually at the beginning of the hip.
8 - Back Waist
This one is measured from the nape of the neck at the back in the center right down the spine to the waist point from where you measured the circumference.
9 - Length
To measure the waist circumference for a bottom, you need to wrap the measuring tape around your waist where you usually wear your trousers (or even skirts in case of women). Make sure it is in a straight line around your waist and it’s not twisting or tilting anywhere.
Women need to make sure they measure it over their bust point in a curve to ensure a correct length measurement as mentioned in 4 - Waist Length.
10-Neck
Round Neck
To get the perfect fit for button ups like shirts, we need your round neck measurement. You wrap the measuring tape around the lower part of your neck where the collar for a shirt usually closes.
Neck Depth
Measure in a slant from the highest shoulder point to the center at the length of the neck you desire. Measured from the same point to the back neck depth.
11- Sleeve Length
To measure the sleeve length, you need to bend your arms and take the length along your arm with the bend as shown in the diagram. Some of the common sleeve lengths are mentioned, however, you can choose any length you prefer.
12- Biceps
For the sleeves, the bicep measurement is required to ensure your sleeve doesn’t grab at your arm when you are moving it. To measure this, flex your biceps and measure around it at the roundest part.
13- Wrist Circ.
To measure the wrist circumference, just wrap the tape around your wrist right before the hand starts and note.
14- Shoulder Width
There are different kinds of shoulder types as shown in the diagram. You need to measure the shoulder width from your back from one shoulder bone to the other as shown in diagram for standard and straight type shoulders. In case of a sloping shoulder, you need to measure the entire shoulder slope as shown. We might ask you for a picture of your shoulder slope as well. If you want a dropping shoulder outfit, measure the extra inches you require on one side of the shoulder separately apart from the shoulder width (as shown in the diagram on the right).
15- Trouser Length
Measured from the side, you start from the point where you usually wear trousers, till the length you desire in a straight line. You can also measure this from a trouser you have that you like the fit. For example, if you prefer wearing heels and want the trouser to be longer, you can measure the length while wearing the heels. You can measure from the top of the belt along the side seam to the hem of the trousers.
16- Thigh
For the thigh measurement, wrap the tape around the highest part of your thigh, under the crotch. Do not wrap the tape around too tightly.
17- Inseam
You can measure the inseam on the inside of your legs. Stand straight, and measure from the crotch (not too up high, but where you want your trouser crotch to be) down your leg on the inside to the length of the bottom. If you measured the length from a ready trouser, you can measure the inseam in the same way from the trousers itself.
